we want to build a brighter future

Where are the next careers? What is the next innovation? In the more than 10 years since WMCAT opened, opportunities have grown and morphed at lightning speed. Today, we have the expertise, proven efficacy and passion to develop new avenues for adult career training, teen engagement and social enterprise. However, WMCAT lacks the space in which to grow our current programming and incubate new models of social innovation. We are currently operating out of a leased space that we are rapidly outgrowing. At this juncture in our future, the community is also moving quickly in creating new hubs of innovation and technology, particularly on the city’s near west side. And, this new location within a burgeoning tech hub will foster greater partnerships and innovative opportunity.

break it down

In 2016 we launched a capital campaign to raise $7.5 million. We exceeded that goal in December, raising $8.2 million! We also finalized plans for the new space with Rockford Construction, acquiring increased square footage with new construction. Therefore, we have increased our Leave Your Mark goal to $8.5 million to cover increased building acquisition and build out; contribute to WMCAT’s programming for three years;and increase an endowment to support the long-term sustainability and maintenance of the building.
